What is a Toller? The breed is actually called the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. A name that is way too long to write out on a frequent basis, but does provide information on the breed's origin (Nova Scotia) and its functions--tolling or luring in ducks and retrieving. Tollers are red dogs and may have varying degrees of white markings. They are considered the smallest of the retrievers.
